Aurora Student Wins ADM Scholarship
QUINCY, Ill, July 2, 2012 – Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) announced today that Summer Santos has been awarded a college scholarship through the ADM Scholarship Program.
“ADM is proud to sponsor this scholarship for Summer,” said Terry Myers, president, ADM Alliance Nutrition. “Outstanding young leaders like Summer have already shown tremendous dedication, ability, and commitment to their communities, and we are pleased to help provide them the opportunity for future achievements.”
Santos, a graduate of Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, Ill., is undecided on where she plans to attend college but plans to study biology. Her father is a senior network engineer at ADM’s Alliance Nutrition facility in Quincy.
The ADM Scholarship Program was created to assist the children of ADM active employees with the costs associated with a college education. Winners were selected on the basis of high scores on the PSAT/NMSQT; academic record throughout high school; significant activities and contributions to the school and community; the school’s recommendation of the candidate; and a student essay.
