VALDOSTA, Ga., July 2, 2012 – Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) announced today that Christopher Thomas has been awarded a college scholarship through the ADM Scholarship Program.

“ADM is proud to sponsor this scholarship for Christopher,” said Bill Simmons, plant manager for ADM’s refinery and packaging facilities in Valdosta, Ga. “Outstanding young leaders like Christopher have already shown tremendous dedication, ability, and commitment to their communities, and we are pleased to help provide them the opportunity for future achievements.”

Thomas, a graduate of Suwannee High School in Live Oak, Fla., hopes to attend the University of Florida-Gainesville and plans to study pre-medicine. His father is a maintenance mechanic at ADM’s facility in Valdosta.

The ADM Scholarship Program was created to assist the children of ADM active employees with the costs associated with a college education. Winners were selected on the basis of high scores on the PSAT/NMSQT; academic record throughout high school; significant activities and contributions to the school and community; the school’s recommendation of the candidate; and a student essay.
